Barb Gale: I am a Learning Specialist and this is my 20th year at Westgate. I was born and grew up in Michigan, just outside of Detroit in the suburb of Livonia. I moved to Colorado with my sisters when I was 19 years old. I have three grown children, (a boy and two girls) and five grandchildren. I love watching the Broncos and the Rockies. Spending time with my family is very important to me.

Terese Hutchins: I am a Learning Specialist and this is my 8th year at Westgate. I am originally from Minnesota but have lived in Colorado for more than 30 years. I love my family, love to ski, hike and be outside. Teaching is my dream job and I love it here at Westgate!

Carolyn Hoff: I am the Speech Language Pathologist returning to Jeffco after being in private practice since 2006. I will be at Westgate 4 days a week and I'm with the Central Evaluation Team on Tuesdays doing the bilingual assessments. I love art, being in the mountains and spending time with my family. I look forward to working and learning with the staff and the children at Westgate.

Janie Tyler: I am the Social Worker/ Mental Health Provider. I am a Colorado native and a former Jeffco student so this community is near and dear to my heart! My husband and I are proud parents of 4 wonderful kids, a 9 year old daughter, 7 year old boy/girl twins and a 5 year old daughter. I love to enjoy the beautiful outdoors of Colorado with my family and friends. I am actively involved in my church and love serving the local community.

Michelle Auer: I have been an Occupational Therapist both in and outside the schools for 24 years. My favorite population to work with are definitely children, where I feel OT can make the most positive impacts. I love living in Colorado to have easy access to my many outdoor "occupations" including hiking with our two dogs, skiing, gardening, climbing, riding horses (2 of my own kids were very active in Westernaires and 4H), or rejuvenating with yoga! I have 3 children who have gone through or are currently still going through JEFFCO schools (2 in college and 1 still in high school). I have also sat on both sides of the fence as both a parent with a child with special needs (SPD, ADHD), and as a professional working with children and families.

As a school OT, I feel my students make the most significant gains with building their physical motor abilities, when they have many opportunities to practice and engage in learning activities in fun, purposeful, and meaningful ways. With this in mind, I look forward to collaborating and working with my many different school teams, my students, and their families this coming school year!

Shauna Condry: I am the School Counselor. I grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota and attended the University of North Dakota where I got my Bachelor’s degree in German and Secondary Education. I then moved to Seattle, Washington where I received my Masters in Education in School Counseling from Seattle University. From there, I moved back to North Dakota and was an elementary school counselor for 4 years. I recently moved to Denver with my German Shepherd Dog and am so excited to be the School Counselor at Westgate Elementary.

Cathy Kendrick: I am the new Social Emotional Learning Specialist (SELS) at Westgate Elementary School. I am so excited to be here and to work with all of you to support your students this year. I am a Colorado native and I have two children who are twenty-one and seventeen. I love to travel, hike, and do yoga. I have worked as a teacher, a school counselor, and a school-based therapist before coming to Jeffco. Due to your generosity in passing the bond last year, we now have a half-time SELS in every elementary school! Social Emotional learning involves five competencies including Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making. I will be going into classes to do lessons on different social-emotional topics. I am also excited to work with you to support your students’ success at home and at school. Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have. I look forward to working with you.
